Control

gi is all about maintaining control of yourself in the face of control exerted by others. Our entire lives are controlled by others. The only people exempt from this are the elite, those whom we agree (or whom we are forced to agree) are above control, who are, to a large extent, except in times of successful revolution, above the law.
If, like me, you are well below the level of the elite, then life can be hard. At this level it is easy to succomb to drugs developed to pacify us. Drink, cigarettes, narcotics, all of these temporarily alleviate the pain of a subsistence life which cannot be escaped without support, or good fortune, or sheer hard will.
Subsistence living requires drugs, subsistence living is precarious, there is no safety net below it except institutions run by those who, to a large extent, are also disatisfied by their lot.
My brother died in extreme poverty, he died without heating and without lighting, unable to afford either. I believe he died without state support. The social worker assigned to him allowed him to die for reasons unknown. There was nothing for him except cheap cider which pacified him but at the same time killed him. Perfect control exerted by those who wanted the little money he had without having to be aware of his existence.
I have not escaped my own death which I believe will occur soon. My body is weak from years of smoking, smoking which first began with peer pressure only to continue as a prop against a world that shrank in reward for repeated failure. Failure is a method of control.

You own none of this.

Many of you do not own a bed or the hours in the day or the hours you sleep. In posts to come we shall see how gi can be used as a means of liberation.
